The First Beast: Papal Rome

Identity of the Beast

• 
  A kingdom- Revelation 13:1-4 introduces a beast rising from the sea, symbolizing a kingdom
  emerging from a populated area (Revelation 17:15, Daniel 7:23).

• The kingdom has a king .The beast has seven heads and ten horns, representing its governance and kings (Revelation 13:1; Daniel 7:24).

• Its king blasphemes, signifying his claim to divine authority also, such as the Pope a Priest-King being called "Vicar of Christ" being  able to forgive sins and also leader the Religion of Rome (Revelation 13:1; John 10:33).

• This beast ( Kingdom) receives power and authority from the dragon (Satan), consolidating both civil and religious control (Revelation 13:2; Revelation 12:9).

A Composite Beast

This beast embodies characteristics of  empires preceding it :

Lion (Babylon), Bear (Medo-Persia), and Leopard (Greece) (Daniel 7:4-6).

It emerges as a composite beast, symbolizing its inheritance of power, structure, and policies from these prior kingdoms, making it unique among beasts (Revelation 13:1-2).

Historical Context

The Roman Bishop, elevated to Pontifex Maximus, became both a religious and civil authority in 533


AD by decree of Emperor Justinian who made him head of all churches and the corrector of heretics. This established the Papacy as a power that combined church and state; a feature which Christ gave strict instructions to stay clear from Mark 12:17

The Second Beast: The United States

• 
  Revelation 13:11 describes another beast rising from the earth, symbolizing a kingdom emerging in a sparsely populated area.

• Its lamb-like horns represent Protestantism and Republicanism, foundational principles of the United States (Isaiah 53:7; Acts 8:32).

• Though it begins as a haven of liberty, it speaks as a dragon by enacting oppressive laws (Revelation 13:11) shows that is what it will do close to the image and mark of the Beast crisis.

Formation of the Image of the Beast Before the Mark of the Beast

In Revelation 13:14-15 Protestant America mirrors Papal Rome by combining church and state, forming an image of the beast.

This image manifests as Christian nationalism  where religion influences state power, and state power receive directives from religious men will leading to enforced worship/state religion.

Logical Progression to the Mark of the Beast

1. The First Beast: Papal Rome's Authority

• Papal Rome rises as a composite beast with elements from Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece, symbolizing its absorption of their characteristics (Revelation 13:1-2, Daniel 7:4-6).

• It gains power and authority from the dragon (Satan) and establishes dominance through religious and civil control (Revelation 13:2, Revelation 12:9).

2. The Deadly Wound and Its Healing

• The Papacy receives a deadly wound in 1798 when Napoleon's general arrests the pope, symbolizing the loss of its political power. This wound is later healed, and the Papacy regains influence globally (Revelation 13:3).

3. The Second Beast: The United States

• The United States rises in a sparsely populated area, symbolized as a lamb-like beast with two horns representing Protestantism and Republicanism (Revelation 13:11).

• It speaks as a dragon by enacting laws that erode religious liberty, ultimately reflecting the characteristics of the first beast (Revelation 13:12).

4. Creation of the Image of the Beast

• Protestant America mirrors Papal Rome by combining church and state, leading to a state-enforced religion (Revelation 13:14-15).

• An image of the beast is formed when religious powers influence legislation, coercing worship in alignment with the first beast's authority (Revelation 13:14).

5. Enforcement of the Mark of the Beast

• The mark of the beast involves enforced Sunday worship, contrary to God's seventh-day Sabbath commandment (Exodus 20:8-11, Revelation 14:9-10).

• Those who refuse the mark face persecution, economic sanctions, and even death (Revelation 13:16-17, Revelation 20:4).

The Role of the Papacy

The Catholic Church claims authority over the Sabbath, as illustrated in the following statements:

• "Sunday is our mark of authority...The church is above the Bible, and this observance is proof of that fact." — Catholic Record, September 1, 1923.

• "Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change was her act, and the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical power." — Faith of Our Fathers, Cardinal Gibbons.

Enforcement Through Legislation

• The image of the beast enables the enforcement of Sunday observance, a direct contradiction to God's law (Exodus 20:8-11).

Recognizing the Image of the Beast and Escaping the Mark of the Beast

Understanding the Image of the Beast

The "image of the beast" is a representation of the Roman Papacy’s power, re-established in a new form. This image is a hybrid of church and state, where religious and political authorities are fused. The Bible describes this transition in Revelation 13:11-14:

• Revelation 13:11 - “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.”

• Revelation 13:12 - “And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.”

The influence of the Image of the Beast on all living in the world

This second beast lam like beast  identified as the United States, will initially appear innocent (like a lamb) but will eventually speak as a dragon. A nation speaks through its laws.

The U.S, through its laws, will form an image to the first beast (Papacy) by enacting laws that align with papal power, promoting religious practices like enforced Sunday worship (Revelation 13:12-14).

The Mark of the Beast – Worship of the Beast

The mark of the beast is connected directly to worship. Revelation 13:16-17 states:

• Revelation 13:16-17 - “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

The mark is a symbol of allegiance to the beast and its system.

Forehead:-Where conviction and conversion to a belief  takes place? Where the mind is made up (Jer 3:3), Romans 12:2.

The significance of receiving the Mark of the Beast in the hand :

What is the hand a symbol of in the bible ?

• Power to get wealth Deuteronomy 8:18

• Power to do work Ecclesiastes 9:10

The desire for financial security and the ability to earn a living will drive many to take the mark of

the beast, as they will be unable to buy or sell without it. The mark in the hand represents the action—working within a system that demands worship and submission to the beast in exchange for economic survival. People will be forced to make a choice between their loyalty to God and their need for financial stability.

• Matthew 6:24
  “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other…”

• This verse speaks to the choice that people will face. The mark in the hand represents choosing to serve the beast system, and by extension, seeking material security in a way that compromises faithfulness to God’s commandments.

• Matthew 6:31-33
  “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? … But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

• The Bible encourages trust in God for provision, even in times of economic crisis. Choosing to take the mark in order to buy and sell is a decision to rely on earthly systems for provision rather than trusting God for His provision, even in the face of adversity.

The Digital Infrastructure for Controlling Buying and Selling

The control of buying and selling can only be efficiently achieved through a digital monetary system. This is why there is a global push toward implementing digital currencies. The transition to a cashless society provides the necessary framework for enforcing the "no buy, no sell" mandate prophesied in Revelation 13:17.

The Digital Banking and Digital Currency (DBDC) systems are clear testimony that the infrastructure needed to enforce such restrictions is already being put in place. This shift is not just about the convenience of digital transactions but also about creating a system where economic participation can be controlled based on compliance with certain global standards.

As the infrastructure for digital money and transactions grows, the ability to restrict or limit access to goods and services becomes more feasible, aligning with the prophetic warnings of a time when individuals will be unable to engage in the global economy unless they submit to the authority of the first Beast of Revelation 13.

What the mark in Hand and Head really means

This mark represents compliance with the enforced worship and observance of Sunday as the Sabbath, a change instituted by the Roman Catholic Church. The mark is not just a physical mark but a sign of spiritual submission to the authority of the beast, demanding worship contrary to God's commandments.

• Revelation 14:9-10 - “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God.”

This warning is clear: those who accept the mark will face God's judgment. Worship is central to this issue, and the Bible points to Sunday worship as a key manifestation of this false allegiance.

Escaping the Mark of the Beast

To escape the mark of the beast, we must remain faithful to God’s commandments and worship Him in spirit and truth, as prescribed in the Bible. Specifically, this involves:

1. Worshiping the Creator: Revelation 14:7 commands, “Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”
   True worship is directed towards God as the Creator and not a man-made system (like the beast).

2. Obeying God's Commandments: Revelation 12:17 states that God's faithful people "keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."
   The Sabbath command (Exodus 20:8-11) remains as a sign of God’s authority and creation. The seal of God, placed on His followers, is symbolized by obedience to His holy day, the seventh-day Sabbath, which remains unchanged despite efforts by the beast to alter it.

3. Resisting the Beast's Authority: Revelation 14:12 offers a promise to those who resist the mark: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
   We are called to remain steadfast in keeping God's commandments, even when tempted by the pressures of societal laws that oppose divine principles.

4. The End-Time Decision: Daniel 7:25 warns that the beast will “think to change times and laws.” The enforcement of Sunday worship is a clear example of this effort to change God's law. However, by keeping the true Sabbath, we reject the authority of the beast.

Conclusion

To escape the mark of the beast, we must obey God's commandments, particularly the Sabbath which tells who or creator is his territory which is heaven and earth, We aught worship the Creator, and resist enforced worship that contradicts His law. By standing on the Bible's clear teachings, we align ourselves with God's people and prepare for Christ's return.

Through obedience and faith in God, we are judged righteous, receiving access to eternal life and the renewed kingdom promised to the faithful. Revelation 22:14 declares: “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Jesus assures us in Matthew 25:34, “Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” This promise of eternal life and restoration is the reward for those who remain faithful to God's Word.

The Apostle Paul also encourages us in Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Those who live by faith in Christ, and in obedience to His commandments, are granted access to be with Him forever in the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1-3). This hope assures us of our place in the eternal kingdom of God, where we will live in peace and harmony with our Savior.

To strengthen our  faith in our God

Before we enter into the study of Daniel 11 which describe history up to the end of the world lets look at the purpose of Bible prophecy so that a proper foundation is laid when we examin all the dates and characters involve.

Matthew 17:1-9

1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. 9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

2 Peter 1:16-18

16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

At the transfiguration God chose to give the followers of Jesus strong proof that he was the promised Messiah, that in their bitter sorrow and disappointment they should not entirely cast away their confidence.

These disciples were favored with a glimpse of the future glory of the Saviour, that they might be strengthened to endure the test and trial of their faith. They were to bear testimony to the other disciples concerning what they had seen, that their faith also might be strengthened.

If God gave the the disciples and eyewitness view to strengthen their faith, to aid them to endure the test and trial of their faith, What would prophecy  , being  more sure than that eyewitness view , do for our faith to endure trials of the future?

Answers : “Now we  ( you and I ) have a more Sure Word of prophecy 

Is Prophecy surer as an eyewitness account? No!   More sure!

What does the bible mean when it uses the word sure ?

Psalms 19:7

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 

Perfect ,Certain; unfailing; infallible.

Romans 2:2 When God is sure we know it is truth

2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

Bible sure is Doubtless ,

2 Peter 1:10

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.  

Prophecy is Love

So bible sure is : 

1. Perfect. Certain. Unfailing. Infallible.

2. You can have confidence in, Rest assured.

3. Doubtless.

Question : Who is : Perfect & Infallible ,You can have confidence in, Rest assured Rest Assured & Doubtless?

Answer : God is, Jesus is,The law is !

Is God love? Is Jesus Love? Is the law love? If prophecy shares the same characteristics As
God the father and God the son and as Love the character of Christ then can we say prophecy is love ?

It is out of Love that Christ sends us a letter (prophecy ) warning  us of the things to come. It is love that gives us waymarks so that we don't get discouraged, it is love for the church that God gives the events to come to ensure that the church ,you and I don't make the wrong decision.

Through the right understanding of the events past present and future Christ is beckoning us to come to Him . He can cleanse and purify us for citizenship above.

What does prophecy do for you if you take heed?

Prophecy is Light

2 Peter 1:19

19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Connected to Prophecy is Light.

If the church receives Prophecy it receives what ? light !

If the church does not receive prophecy it rejects the light / the day star. 

First deal with the day star

What is the star that is seen in the day? It's the Sun! 

Who is the day star? 

Malachi 4:2 Christ

2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

Luke 1:78-79 Tells us what the healing is,which will give us evidence of who the day star is

78 Through the tender mercy of our God;whereby the dayspring (anatole) from on high hath visited us,79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,

to guide our feet into the way of peace.

So when we take heed of prophecy the Sun of Righteousness brings healing.Even when death is hanging over us,

Prophecy allows the dayspring to give light to guide our feet in the way of peace.

So the Day star brings  to you and I, to the church light ,healing, restoration, remedy,life from death.

Isaiah 1:5-6

5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more:

the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it;but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

If the members of the church are sick in sin as Isaiah 5 says then what do they really need ?

Jeremiah 17:14 To be saved Salvation.

14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

Ezekiel 37:10 

10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

• Prophecy is Light .

• So The Light in  prophecy is designed to do what ? Save us!

• Prophecy is an instrument of salvation.

• God gave us Prophecy to wake us up from slumber, revive us,

• Set us on the right path to the kingdom. The path of the just.

 

When the books of Daniel and Revelation are better understood, believers will have an entirely different religious experience. They will be given such glimpses of the open gates of heaven that heart and mind will be impressed with the character that all must develop in order to realize the blessedness which is to be the reward of the pure in heart.

What do we notice in “Light in dark place, day dawn, day star in the heart”

A progressive work!

What stage will you consider when the day star has risen  in your heart? End ! The goal accomplished, work finished in you ,perfection .

Colossians 1:27-28

27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Let's look at what the light does some more as it shines into the heart.

Ephesians 5:13-14

13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

What is the meaning of make manifest: to show, to take notice, to be seen.

Does the light of bible  prophecy make known to us what is wrong in our Christian experience? 

Does the light of the 3rd Angel's message manifest our position? Yes ! Our readiness or Not? Yes!

If the light of prophecy is blocked,hindered in the church what would happen ? our wrongs would not be seen ,the church would be unready,the members will be lost.

Proverbs 4:18,19 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the

perfect day. 19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

There is a boundary to the mercy of God, for He does not always strive with men. A record is kept of all the blessings offered and how those blessings are treated; and if we neglect our duty we shall soon see, as did the Jews, that the anger of God is not withheld but we shall be given over to the power of Satan. While it seems astonishing to us that the Jews rejected Christ, we ourselves will act out the same thing if we refuse the light for this time.

The light of prophecy still burns for the guidance of souls, saying, “This is the way, walk ye in it.” It shines on the pathway of the just to commend, and on the way of the unjust to lead to repentance and conversion. Through its agency sin will be rebuked and iniquity unmasked. 

If those who have received the light will appreciate and respect the testimonies of the Lord, they will see the religious life in a new light. They will be convicted. They will see the key that unlocks the mysteries that they have never understood. They will lay hold of the precious things that God has given them to profit withal and will be translated from the kingdom of darkness into God's marvelous light.

Those who despise the warning will be left in blindness to become self-deceived. But those who heed it, and zealously go about the work of separating their sins from them in order to have the needed graces, will be opening the door of their hearts that the dear Saviour may come in and dwell with them.
