Daniel 11 further repeats and gives so much detail on Daniel 2,7,8 that God dissolves all  doubt in the mind of who these ruling kingdoms are and what shall come to pass in the time of the end.

In Daniel 11:2 And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

This is the conflict  between Ram  with two horns( Medio Persia) and the He goat with one notable horn, Alexander  in Daniel 8 repeated.

Who won that battle?

 The bible in Daniel 2,7 and 8 tells us Greece, but lets look in Daniel 11 verse 3 it says:

“And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.” this is none other than Alexander the Great. 

What happened to Alexander  and his kingdom?

Daniel 11:4

“And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.”

Where are the four winds of heaven ?

Jeremiah 49:36 

And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.

1 Chronicles 9:24 

In four quarters were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south.

Alexander’s kingdom divided East West North and South and weakened, 

Historical fact : The kingdom was left  to  Alexander’s Generals, 36 of them. As years progressed the generals  made sure all the kinfolk of Alexander were killed.  They fought till there was only 4 left  the bible here introduce specifically Alexander's empire which was all of former Babylon all of the great persian empire as divided into sections called the four winds ,East West North & South.  

These four fought till there were two left; Ptolemy in the south ,he controlled the geographical area of Egypt And Seleucus he controlled Syria which was the center of all of Babylon which was North. Grecian kingdom as a whole  crumbles at Alexander's death and the warring factions  controlled swaths of territory as far as the Asian provinces in the East to Gaul (France) in the West Babyloniaprovinces  in the North and Egypt and syria in the south

Last week we saw  in Daniel 8:9

“And out of one of them came forth a little horn,

Who is “them” ? is it Greece ?  

Daniel 11:4 sasy for his kingdom(Greece) shall be plucked up”

“And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.”

It is from this verse onward whoever controls the geographical area that these two kings Seleucus in the North including all of Babylon and Ptolemy in the south consisting of Egypt is considered the king of the North and the king of the South respectively.  The North and South is reference from the homeland of the Prophet which is Palestine Canaan

Daniel 11 details that runs through the history of the King of the North and south

Daniel 11:5And the king of the south(ptolemy) shall be strong, and one of his (Alexander’s)princes; and he (north) shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion. 6And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king's daughter of the south(Bernice) shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement(marriage): but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times. 7But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:

South king Ptolemy Philadelphus, 2nd king in Egypt gives his daughter Bernice as a dowry to northern king AntiocusTheos, third king of Syria as an agreement for peace .Antiocus Theos puts away his wife Laodice and her two sons. Antiochus after a while in a fit of love brought back his wife Laodice and puts away Bernice( the south kings daughter). Laodice not trusting her husband fickle mind, had Antiochus poisoned and Bernice, her son and helpers killed . But out of the branch of her roots ( Bernice’s brother) who then mounts the throne in Egypt after his fathers death amasses a large army and  avenges the brutal killing of his sister Bernice and the South at this juncture prevails.

These power goes back and forth till imperial Rome is introduced ruling in the North

Remember the little horn power 

• Came out of Rome uprooting 3 horns.
• Rome took over Alexander’s kingdom and out of one of the areas where the 4 generals rule came up the little horn power.
• Was a mixture of kingly rule and Religion ,Iron and clay.
• Speaks great words( blaspheme) against the Most High.claiming to be God.
• Persecute  the saints for time, times and half of time .1260yrs.
• Persecute the woman in Rev12 and trample truth to the ground.

Daniel 11:40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

When is the time of the end.’

When is the “Time of the end”,  where else can we find this phrase?

Dan 11: Verse 35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

So connected to the time of the end is What event? Persecution by Death,trials,genocide

For context  verse 33And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

Where again can we see a people Persecuted ? 

Daniel 12:5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.

6And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

7And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

Who were the holy people? Saints of the most High

Daniel 7:25 And he (little horn) shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

How long were they persecuted for because remember its till the time of the end ?

Above verse says: ” time and times and the dividing of time” 1260 yrs.

When did the Little horn, the persecuting power  in Daniel 7:25 began his reign ?

Daniel 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.  

History tells us the little horn power the Papacy that persecuted the saints and cast the truth to the ground for 1260 yrs began his reign 538 AD His reign ends 1260yrs after 1260 years leads us to 1798.. So the time of the end is began in 1798

In 1798 who is the king of the South?

South is Egypt was it literal Egypt?

 1 Corinthians 15:46 “Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.”

Who had the characteristics of Egypt?

“And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.” 

Which nation knew not God . It was France by decree that burn bibles declare it self Atheist and claim its god reason in the period of the french revolution.

I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.

“And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.”

Who was the king of the North in 1798 ? 

Remember the king of the North is the one that rules the geographical north that would be Babylon opposite to Egypt but  was Babylon in power in 1798?

Jeremiah 25:9. Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and

Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land,

and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will

utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual

desolations. 

The northern kingdom Babylon move from the hands of Nebuchadnessar to the Medio persia to Greece to the four generals  then then to the Roman Caesars then to the little horn we know as the papacy the Papacy existed in 1798 and the history proves true:-

Pope Pius VI was arrested by French General Berthier in 1798  and political power was taken when the pope was sent into exile where he died.

So the king of the  South Athiestic France war a gainst the King of the north the little Horn power the Papacy taking his power away in 1798 where he died in exile shortly there after.

Its been some days now three days now  to be exact we have heard the news of the sudden resignation of pope Benedict XVI.
We have heard in the news that the middle of march is the deadline set to select the new bishop of Rome.That makes it three(3) weeks from now that we will have the leader of both the state the (Vatican) and the Church (Catholicism) will have its king sitting on the throne in the Vatican. It would be prudent to note that Catholic means Universal church keep this in mind.

I have been studying Daniel 11:40-45 for the past four years now and  it has proven truly to line up with the history of 1798 up to this time. Thus far one verse has predicted not almost but dead on all the historical events that tell us we are in the closing moments of earth's history. The reason why i have confidence in one verse ie verse 40 that its accurate is because we have seen the history from Daniel 11:1 yes verse one to 39 as accurate as the sun's position in the sky. Gods word we can trust.
While I am not making any prophetic forecast i have reason to believe that the next Pope could come from the United States of America. I could be wrong. Maybe the pope coming from anywhere in the world will still lead to the things we know concerning America in Revelation 13. However the time is ripe for Pope coming from America because all the entities in bible prophecy are ready to fulfil their roles.

The Bible says Dan 11:41  HE shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

We are going to deal with this one phrase "HE shall enter also into the glorious land"

The two links above tells us who the "HE" in verse 41 is the King Of  The North. We have ascertain from the Bible that the King of the North at the end of the world is the Papacy see the links above.

Now Holy Scripture says He shall enter into the the GLORIOUS LAND in verse 41.

Lets look in the bible to see  where we can find in ancient times by its characteristics we can determine the modern Glorious land.

• PLEASANT LANDS .
• GOODLY LANDS.
• PLACES OF PROMINENCE.

HISTORY AND BIBLE PROPHECY TELLS US WHERE THE GLORIOUS LAND WAS

Dan 8:8  Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven. (ie East,West, North and South)
Daniel 8:9. And out of one of them (winds) came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward
the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant [land].

The book of Daniel,chapter 2 tells us the kingdoms that would rule the earth until the end of time.
The History goes like this ,Heads of Gold Babylon, Chest and arms of Silver Medio Persia, Belly and thighs of brass Greece, then Legs of Iron Pagan Rome,Then Iron and clay feet of Papal Rome up to the papal removal as a world power in 1798. This was the deadly wound described in Revelation 13 inflicted on the first beast ,the great and terrible beast. The toes in Daniel 2  represent Modern Rome, the system that resembles old ancient Rome (Iron kingdom), but has the influence of a church (Iron mixed with clay kingdom) is where we see the world divided into 10 regions.This is the New World Order according to Bible.

Daniel 11, the chapter that we are now looking over goes through most of that history starting from Grecian Empire under the rule of Alexander the Great.  Daniel 8:8 shows t the Grecian kingdom with the Notable Horn Alexamder himself . Then his kingdom Greece was divided into four (4) warring factions under Alexander's four great Generals historically know as Lysimacous ,Cassander Seleucius and  Ptolemy (P silent), this explanation is given in the follwing verses if you mouse over
(Daniel 8:20, Daniel 8:21,  Daniel 8:22,  Daniel 8:23,  Daniel 8:24).This is how Greece under the Great Alexander's Grecian kingdom came to its end as a ruling kingdom on the earth.


The kingdom that followed is Pagan Rome, the Little horn he magnify its self.
Dan 8:9  And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
Dan 8:10  And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
Dan 8:11  Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host.

This is Rome pagan that persecuted the disciples. Saul was the instrument under Rome that persecuted the (stars of heaven the apostles and followers of Christ) Acts7:58 and Act8:1,Acts 8:3, Acts 9:1,Dan 12:3
It was Rome pagan via the Roman Caesars that magnify itself above the Prince of the Host (Christ) to kill him in John 19:10

It was pagan Rome that Waxed Great to south Egypt ,towards the East Syria and towards the place that we have been trying to defined as the PLEASANT LAND Palestine in Judea. Now that we  have the events and individual leading up to this Pleasant land we can be sure of its exactness based on the correct historical walk that we just took.
The scripture and History agree that pagan Rome did conquer these three areas at its ascendancy.

1. Egypt “toward the south”
2. Syria “toward the east”
3. Judea “toward the pleasant land”

Bible foretold this would happen after the Babylonian captivity  that Gods people will settled down in the pleasant land  Judea. Now note the characteristics of the pleasant land,with this information we can see where on the planet is the Modern day PLEASANT LAND.

Jeremiah 3:18, 19
In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north (BABYLON) to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers. But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.

Exodus 6:7, 8.
And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that
I [am] the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I [am] the LORD.

Daniel 11:16.
But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.

The Goodly land is where the Children of God were given was a place of rest and peace, It was a place free from the bondage of torment and slavery where they could worship the God of heaven in peace.It was the the pleasant land the Land where all longed for.

• United States America is where most people in the world wanted to migrate to.
• The USA is a nation of immigrants, people love to go to that land for the American Dream.
• It is USA that many  found solace and peace away from the bondage of Kingly rule and Papal persecution.
• It is the USA that many ran to practice free religion under its great constitutional decree,a document that epitomises freedom both civil and religious and justice for all.
• It is in America where the great beacon of protestantism  burns brightest.
• It is in America where all protestant headquaters are based the USA is the citadel for protestantism.
• It is the America that is represented in Bible prophecy as the Earth (land) that swallowed up the flood of persecution that came after the woman (the church) out of the dragons mouth (Satan). 

GOD SHOWS THE END BY SHOWING US THE BEGINNING ISAIAH 46:9,10 

For Papal Rome to ascend the throne of the earth for the deadly wound to be heal it has to conquer three  geographical obstacles. God shows the end by telling us what the beginning was like .In the beginning of  Roman system Pagan Rome overcame three geographical obstacles.
Daniel  Dan 8:9  And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. 
Hysterically and prophetically in the Dan 8:9 Rome took out three obstacles to gain the ascendancy on the earth.
Rome did this twice in past histories also in bible you can prove these times.

1st History: Pagan Rome removed three(3) obstacles

1. Egypt “toward the south”
2. Syria “toward the east”
3. Judea “toward the pleasant land”

2nd History: Papal Rome removed three obstacles Removal of the Arian religions
This time via the help of a STATE power,namely Clovis the king of France who became the sword of the papacy setting him upon the throne of the earth  from 538- 1798=1260 days  of Revelation 12:14, Dan_7:25,Daniel 12:7. incidentally it was France that set the Papacy up and France that took him down

1. Huruli.
2. Ostrgoths.
3. Vandals

The Bible says on the Testimony of two witnesses a thing is established. Deut 19:15 ,Deut 17:6 Gen41:32,Heb 10:28.Thus we can safely use this Bible principle that the 1st and second History gives us details of the 3rd History which is yet future. 

Hence History number 3 tells us about Modern Rome .that is Rome in our day.

Modern Rome Must overcome three(3) obstacles.This information is found as well in Daniel 11:40-45 

1. King of the South ( Atheism) 1989 fall of Communism , via John Paul .Accomplished
2. Glorious Land.(American or Protestantism) headquateredif there is such a word in America (future) 
3. Egypt  finally.   Note Egypt represents the World or worldly in Bible prophecy.

Thus the next victim of the Papacy would be the GLORIOUS LAND where the last bastion of  protestantism is headquarterd.
Most protestant churches have already shown allegiance to Rome and some are even responding to the call to come back home to mother Rome,but to have the Papal Head from America sit on the thrown of the Vatican is a step towards the protestant America being overthrown. The papacy will see it as conquest to have the pontifical General come from the United states.
Revelation 13 shows a lamb like Beast with two horns or two instrument of its power, namely Republicanism and Protestantism. This is Freedom of the Republic without Kingly rule and secondly Freedom of Religion specifically protestantism.

But the bible talks of a beast that gives power to the great and terrible beast in Revelation13 that cause the Great and Terrible Beast wounds to Heal.
How is this done ? By forming an IMAGE TO THE BEAST.  You can only form an image to something by forming a replica of its defining characteristics. The Papacy has always been govern as a church and state power . The Papal Sea is church Craft, the Vatican is its territory and state. The Pope hold reigns of both Priest and King.This was once the case with him being such over the whole world and when this was done the blood of Bible believing Christians flow. Heretics (those who do not acknowledge the doctrines and dictates of Rome were behead, flail,burn at the stake,put in prison and suffer all manure of torture too gruesome to pen.  The Joining of church and State by any country will form the image to the beast.And that second beast in Revelation 13 will be the one to cause the deadly wound of the Great and terrible to heal.

Who is this second BEAST POWER IN REVELATION 17 THAT CAUSES THE DEADLY WOUND OF THE PAPAL RULE TO BE HEALED.

Rev 13:11   another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Rev 13:12  And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Bible says :Rev_13:14  And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Rev_13:15  And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

With the lamb like Beast being America,the Pope being American that should make the Dan 11:41 the latter part seamless. The Sunday law a religious law pushed by protestant America under the loving care of an American Pope can certainly move quickly the final events of Earth's history and an image to be the beast is easily formed which will empower once again Papal Rule and Kingly dominion.

Certainly America is speaking like a dragon at this time via its laws and this is what we expect, for a nation speaks via its laws and its ability to CAUSE..as Rev 13:12. All the infrastructure is in place.The laws,Detention centres,taking away of the liberties of the people,even the chief justices are all Catholic except one.
The question is are you ready, have you been cleansed from sin, have you given all to Jesus.The only ONE that can save you or keep you saved is Christ in the heart. No other weapon can prevent the works of Satan to have its way .We know from history when the Papacy sitteth on the throne of the earth persecution starts on Bible believing Christians who will then be named as in the past histories as Heretics.

He will enter into the Glorious Land as Daniel 11:41 says.The "how "is probably what we will see in the next 3 weeks. If the Pope is an American and one American , if he is selected the Papacy can bring down Protestantism easy from that point on. the Seat of Protestant America will easily pay homage to an pope of American origin . Protestant who are not protesting anymore is already stretching its hand across the gulf to clasp hands with the Papacy , A Vatican II influenced protestants will easily give over to the "New Catholic Evangelistic thrust. "All the World will wonder after the Beast ".  We wait and see

The points of identification examined in this lesson (from Daniel 7 and Revelation 13) make it clear that this little horn power would arise in during the fall of the Roman Empire and during the time that the 10 barbarian tribes ruled much of western Europe.

It would mix paganism with true worship of God.

It would command people to worship it (thereby making it a religious power).

It would persecute those who disagreed with it.

It would blaspheme the God of heaven.

It would reign for 1260 years.

It would receive a deadly wound, recover from it, and have “all” the world worship it once again.

Its boldest claim would be that it had changed the times and the law.

We can take these marks of identification, go to any encyclopedia or history book, examine the history of the Dark Ages when the Bible said this power would arise, and we would discover that there is only one power that meets every one of these identifying marks. That power is the Papacy. Please remember that we are not talking about individuals. We are talking about a system that is in opposition to God. There are many good, sincere people in the Catholic religion who love and serve Jesus. God loves them, and in mercy He has sent them this warning so that they might not be deceived by this power.

Let’s re-examine the identifying marks of Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 and see how clearly the Papacy has met every one of these marks of identification.

DANIEL’S MARKS OF IDENTIFICATION

It arose among the ten nations

As the Roman Empire fell and the world was taken over by the barbarian tribes, another power began that became a unifying power. That power was the Papacy. No other such power arose among the ten tribes after the fall of the Roman Empire.

Three horns were removed

In 533, Roman Emperor Justinian declared that the Bishop of Rome was the head of all the Christian churches. However, Rome was in the hands of Ostrogoth Theodoric the Great. Although Theodoric treated Catholics well, he was Arian in belief (a Christian heresy). Justinian set out to rescue Rome from Arian hands and place a pope of his choosing there (the other popes had been elected by the Arians). In 534 he sent Belisarius to capture Rome. Under new king Witigis, the Arian Goths allowed Belisarius to simply walk into Rome. While there, he deposed pope Silverius and placed Vigilius (chosen by Justinian) in his place in 538.

By 540 the Ostrogoths had surrendered to Belisarius, but he was recalled by Justinian. In his absence they began rebelling again under a new leader named Totila. In 546 and 549 Totila captured Rome and eventually all of Italy. However, he was eventually defeated and by 562, Ostrogoths were heard of no more in Italy. Thus was the end of the third horn that was uprooted to make way for the little horn. The other two (the Heruli and Vandals) had already been defeated.

Eyes like the eyes of a man

At the head of the Papacy sits a man, making the decisions that affect the lives and souls of thousands of people

It had a mouth which boasted against the Most High

Consider these three points:

In the book of Daniel we have learned that God does not want us to mix together paganism and Christianity. But, as pagans came flooding into the church after Constantine supported Christianity, the church changed the doctrines for early Christianity. To make it easier for the pagans to adjust to Christianity, pagan practices were incorporated into the Christian faith. For example, the pagans were use to worshipping gods and goddesses, whereas Christians worshipped only one God. Therefore, the church introduced the practice of praying to the saints. This took the place of the household gods of paganism. In addition, Christianity had no female deity, so the Papacy elevated Mary to take the place of Jesus as the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). There were many other pagan practices that Rome Christianized during this period.

Who can forgive sins but God alone? (Mark 2:7) Yet the Papacy claims to be able to forgive men of their sins:

“And God himself is obliged to abide by the judgment of his priest and either not to pardon or to pardon, according as they refuse to give absolution, provided the penitent is capable of it.” “Duties and Dignities of the Priest” by Liguori P. 27.

“Were the Redeemer to descend into a church, and sit in a confessional to administer the sacrament of penance, and a priest to sit in a confessional, Jesus would say over each penitent: ‘Ego te Absolovo’, the priest would likewise say over each of his penitents, ‘Ego te absolvo’, and the penitents of each would be equally absolved.” Ibid., P. 34

“The priest holds the place of the Saviour himself, when, by saying ‘Ego te absolvo’, he absolves from sin.” Ibid.

The Jews tried to stone Jesus because he claimed perogatives of God. (John 10:33). Consider the following claims by the Catholic Church:

“Hence priests are called the parents of Jesus Christ: such is the title that St. Bernard gives them, for they are the active cause by which he is made to exist really in the consecrated Host.” Ibid., p. 32

“Thus the Priest may, in a certain manner be called the creator of his Creator, since by saying the words of consecration, he creates as it were, Jesus in the sacrament.” Ibid.

“All names which in the Scripture are applied to Christ, by virtue of which it is established that he is over the church, all the same names are applied to the Pope.” “On the Authority of Councils,” 1619 ed., book 2, ch. 17.

“We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty,” “The Great Encyclical Letters of Leo,” XIII, page 304

When you examine the Roman Catholic quotations cited above, there can be no question that the papacy has boasted against the Most High and has combined paganism with Christianity.

The results of the Inquisition and many other persecutions of various religious groups are well know facts. To the Catholic church they were heretics, to others they were saints — true believers of the Bible and it’s teachings.

When do we date the beginning of the rise of the little horn to power?

After Belisarius placed Vigilius in Rome in 538 (The first pope chosen by Justinian after he had declared the Bishop of Rome the head of the church) Vigilius was called to Constantinopal to settle a dispute. It was while Vigilius was away that Totila captured Rome and later that the Ostrogoths were defeated. In 556, Pelegius (elected by Justinian to replace Vigilius’ who had died on his way back to Rome) returned to Rome. The Bishop of Rome, the declared head of the Church, while not in Rome during the complete demise of the Ostrogoths, remained the only Bishop of Rome. So, the dating of the start of the Bishop of Rome as the head of all the Christian church begins with Vigilius in 538.

Later, during the reign of Gregory the First (590-604), were laid the foundations for the Papal States and temporal Papal authority.

The rise of the little horn was slow. It started small but grew in power. The three Arian tribes were uprooted. Among them and in thier place the little horn began to gain power.

Exactly 1260 years later, in 1798, Berthier, French general under Napoleon, invaded the Vatican and took the pope prisoner.

An assortment of popes had been taken prisoner and killed through out the history of the Roman church. However, it is significant that it was the French, who in 1798 rejected God and embraced atheism, that dethroned the pope, because 1290 years (Daniel 12:11) before, in 508 AD, the Franks under Clovis became the first of the tribes to embrace the teachings of Rome and reject Arianism.

It received its power, seat and great authority from the Dragon

The dragon primarily represent Satan (Revelation 12:9). However, the devil works through various agencies, in this case, Pagan Rome. When the Roman emperors moved the capital of the failing Roman Empire from Rome to Constantinople, they left the pope as the power in Rome. The power of the Caesars supported the bishop of Rome by elevating him above all the other bishops in Christianity. Truly Pagan Rome gave the Papacy his power, seat, and authority. The Papacy is a continuance of the first phase of the Iron legs kingdom.

It received a deadly wound

When Berthier, the French general, took the Pope prisoner in 1798, he inflicted the deadly wound. Many thought the Papacy had come to its end and could never recover. Indeed it had received a deadly wound.

The deadly wound was healed

In 1929 Mussolini restored the Vatican to the Pope, making him again a secular as well as a religious ruler. Today the Vatican is recognized by many governments on earth. Even the United States of America sends an ambassador to the Vatican, recognizing the Vatican State as a secular as well as a religious state. The United States does not recognize any other religious organization in this way. It is against the Constitution to do so. As one observes the developing Papacy today, one sees indeed the whole world wondering after this power.

People worshipped this power

One only has to watch the acts of obeisance that people pay to the head of the papacy to know that this power is an object of reverence and worship. During his 1260 year reign, few earthly governments dared defy this power. He held the keys to life and death for thousands of individuals.

It spoke great words against the Most High

It was to reign for 42 months (42 months = 1260 days)

It made war with the saints

All the world worships it today

It has a number that adds up to 666

Notice that Revelation 13-18 does not say the number 666 is written out. Rather it says that to discover the number of the beast, one must calculate the number of the beast, or add it up. An ancient Hebrew custom was to add up the numerical values for the letters in people’s names. That would then be the person’s number. The Bible says the beast has a number, and the numbers add up to 666. One of the titles take by all bishops of the Roman Church in Latin is Vicarius Filii Dei, meaning “Vicar of the Son of God.” Please notice below that the Roman numeral value of the letters of this name add up to the Biblical 666:
