Daniel 11:33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.
This was the time of John Huss, Jerome, and the other reformers named HERETICS BY THE ROMAN CHURCH. Al these were burn by the stake or killed by some other means. These were the martyrs.

In the end which Daniel 11:44 clearly states this is what will happen
44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

Utterly make away many means to kill,terminate,to silence by death.
This will be the the doings of the king of the north .The king of Spiritual Babylon( The Papacy,The Roman church,The catholic church at the end.
