The World has been and will be at enmity against Christ and all that is of Christ that includes you Christians. At least the real ones .. If the world likes you,Watch yourself something is not corrected with your Christianity.
The World Hates Christ.

Luke 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
Revelation 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

Why all this hatred ? Satan The adversary hates Christ and wants to be like Him.
John 7:7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Revelation 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
2Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
The Prince of this world does not like Christ Dont expect him to like you.

John 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
John 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
John 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
So dont expect to be love If you are a true Christian.
Why true Christian follow what God admonish. why, because they love Christ.
Proverbs 3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
Proverbs 4:4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
Proverbs 7:1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
Proverbs 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

Remember we the majority of us Christians must suffer the same faith as Christ.

Now have this happen in the past ?

Heretic : someone who did not go along with the religious & traditions of Rome ,Catholicism which is Paganism baptised. This includes those who believe in the bible and the Bible alone the only authority for Salvation and the Christian walk. This also include that Salvation and Christianity is govern,driven and influenced by freedom of Conscience and not forced. For Christ himself said Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Christ is not received by compulsion!

Now the future

Those who follow the Papacy and the Roman church have nothing to fear of retribution or persecution in the future. She Rome has lend an outstretched hand to call all her daughters back home . And they are running back to Her as was predicted in the 1800s when protestant would not of even fathom the idea of going back to Papal persecution.But Rome is patient, she has shown tremendous patience since the deadly wound was inflicted in 1798 .
But those true protestants who stand with the the Bible alone face a formidable foe in the near future. Luke 12:11 as mention above will be a reality in the lives of many..

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
This is not past beheading this is future. And if you think am joking the laws are in place see the following here. Many will be saved because they loose their lives for Christ this way.
Many will stand as the old reformers labeled heretic will have to defend faith in crowded churches and media throng courtrooms just as scripture suggest in Luke 12:11 "synagogues, and unto magistrates"
The Union of church and state rule is evident here in the form of "synagogues, and unto magistrates" in Luke 12:11
But notice the same thing in Daniel 11:45 ...45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain;
Tabernacle and palaces = church and state rule
in the end the batter will be Gods true church Rev14:12 vs the counterfeit religion of Rome.
Prepare yourself for another rounds of persecution of heretics.
This is Satan clandestine plane to eradicate true Christians on the face of the earth.
This is the real Global Governance that every one is talking about but not seeing its true identity.
But the end after much trouble is the Light of the morning for Christ shall deliver his people
Revelation chapters 19 and 20 tells us this will not end like the last history.Christ descend and take care of things in the closing moments. Sin will be conquered forever.
