"In the visions of the night a very impressive scene passed before me. I saw an immense ball of fire fall among some beautiful mansions, causing their instant destruction. I heard someone say: “We knew that the judgments of God were coming upon the earth, but we did not know that they would come so soon.” Others, with agonized voices, said: “You knew! Why then did you not tell us? We did not know.” On every side I heard similar words of reproach spoken." – {3TT 296.1} – 3TT 296.1

The next pope

Its been some days now three days now  to be exact we have heard the news of the sudden resignation of pope Benedict XVI.
We have heard in the news that the middle of march is the deadline set to select the new bishop of Rome.That makes it three(3) weeks from now that we will have the leader of both the state the (Vatican) and the Church (Catholicism) will have its king sitting on the throne in the Vatican. It would be prudent to note that Catholic means Universal church keep this in mind.

I have been studying Daniel 11:40-45 for the past four years now and  it has proven truly to line up with the history of 1798 up to this time. Thus far one verse has predicted not almost but dead on all the historical events that tell us we are in the closing moments of earth's history. The reason why i have confidence in one verse ie verse 40 that its accurate is because we have seen the history from Daniel 11:1 yes verse one to 39 as accurate as the sun's position in the sky. Gods word we can trust.
While I am not making any prophetic forecast i have reason to believe that the next Pope could come from the United States of America. I could be wrong. Maybe the pope coming from anywhere in the world will still lead to the things we know concerning America in Revelation 13. However the time is ripe for Pope coming from America because all the entities in bible prophecy are ready to fulfil their roles.

The Bible says Dan 11:41  HE shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

We are going to deal with this one phrase "HE shall enter also into the glorious land"

HISTORY AND BIBLE PROPHECY TELLS US WHERE THE GLORIOUS LAND WAS

Dan 8:8  Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven. (ie East,West, North and South)
Daniel 8:9. And out of one of them (winds) came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward
the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant [land].

The book of Daniel,chapter 2 tells us the kingdoms that would rule the earth until the end of time.
The History goes like this ,Heads of Gold Babylon, Chest and arms of Silver Medio Persia, Belly and thighs of brass Greece, then Legs of Iron Pagan Rome,Then Iron and clay feet of Papal Rome up to the papal removal as a world power in 1798. This was the deadly wound described in Revelation 13 inflicted on the first beast ,the great and terrible beast. The toes in Daniel 2  represent Modern Rome, the system that resembles old ancient Rome (Iron kingdom), but has the influence of a church (Iron mixed with clay kingdom) is where we see the world divided into 10 regions.This is the New World Order according to Bible.

Daniel 11, the chapter that we are now looking over goes through most of that history starting from Grecian Empire under the rule of Alexander the Great.  Daniel 8:8 shows t the Grecian kingdom with the Notable Horn Alexamder himself . Then his kingdom Greece was divided into four (4) warring factions under Alexander's four great Generals historically know as Lysimacous ,Cassander Seleucius and  Ptolemy (P silent), this explanation is given in the follwing verses if you mouse over
(Daniel 8:20, Daniel 8:21,  Daniel 8:22,  Daniel 8:23,  Daniel 8:24).This is how Greece under the Great Alexander's Grecian kingdom came to its end as a ruling kingdom on the earth.


The kingdom that followed is Pagan Rome, the Little horn he magnify its self.
Dan 8:9  And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
Dan 8:10  And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.

It was pagan Rome that Waxed Great to south Egypt ,towards the East Syria and towards the place that we have been trying to defined as the PLEASANT LAND Palestine in Judea. Now that we  have the events and individual leading up to this Pleasant land we can be sure of its exactness based on the correct historical walk that we just took.
The scripture and History agree that pagan Rome did conquer these three areas at its ascendancy.

1. Egypt “toward the south”
2. Syria “toward the east”
3. Judea “toward the pleasant land”

Bible foretold this would happen after the Babylonian captivity  that Gods people will settled down in the pleasant land  Judea. Now note the characteristics of the pleasant land,with this information we can see where on the planet is the Modern day PLEASANT LAND.

In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north (BABYLON) to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers. But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.

And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that
I [am] the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I [am] the LORD.

Daniel 11:16.
But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.

The Goodly land is where the Children of God were given was a place of rest and peace, It was a place free from the bondage of torment and slavery where they could worship the God of heaven in peace.It was the the pleasant land the Land where all longed for.

• United States America is where most people in the world wanted to migrate to.
• The USA is a nation of immigrants, people love to go to that land for the American Dream.
• It is USA that many  found solace and peace away from the bondage of Kingly rule and Papal persecution.
• It is the USA that many ran to practice free religion under its great constitutional decree,a document that epitomises freedom both civil and religious and justice for all.
• It is in America where the great beacon of protestantism  burns brightest.
• It is in America where all protestant headquaters are based the USA is the citadel for protestantism.
• It is the America that is represented in Bible prophecy as the Earth (land) that swallowed up the flood of persecution that came after the woman (the church) out of the dragons mouth (Satan). 

GOD SHOWS THE END BY SHOWING US THE BEGINNING ISAIAH 46:9,10 

For Papal Rome to ascend the throne of the earth for the deadly wound to be heal it has to conquer three  geographical obstacles. God shows the end by telling us what the beginning was like .In the beginning of  Roman system Pagan Rome overcame three geographical obstacles.

Hysterically and prophetically in the Dan 8:9 Rome took out three obstacles to gain the ascendancy on the earth.

3. Judea “toward the pleasant land”

2nd History: Papal Rome removed three obstacles Removal of the Arian religions
This time via the help of a STATE power,namely Clovis the king of France who became the sword of the papacy setting him upon the throne of the earth  from 538- 1798=1260 days  of Revelation 12:14, Dan_7:25,Daniel 12:7. incidentally it was France that set the Papacy up and France that took him down

The Bible says on the Testimony of two witnesses a thing is established. Deut 19:15 ,Deut 17:6 Gen41:32,Heb 10:28.Thus we can safely use this Bible principle that the 1st and second History gives us details of the 3rd History which is yet future. 

Hence History number 3 tells us about Modern Rome .that is Rome in our day.

Modern Rome Must overcome three(3) obstacles.This information is found as well in Daniel 11:40-45 

1. King of the South ( Atheism) 1989 fall of Communism , via John Paul .Accomplished
2. Glorious Land.(American or Protestantism) headquateredif there is such a word in America (future) 
3. Egypt  finally.   Note Egypt represents the World or worldly in Bible prophecy.

Thus the next victim of the Papacy would be the GLORIOUS LAND where the last bastion of  protestantism is headquarterd.
Most protestant churches have already shown allegiance to Rome and some are even responding to the call to come back home to mother Rome,but to have the Papal Head from America sit on the thrown of the Vatican is a step towards the protestant America being overthrown. The papacy will see it as conquest to have the pontifical General come from the United states.
Revelation 13 shows a lamb like Beast with two horns or two instrument of its power, namely Republicanism and Protestantism. This is Freedom of the Republic without Kingly rule and secondly Freedom of Religion specifically protestantism.

But the bible talks of a beast that gives power to the great and terrible beast in Revelation13 that cause the Great and Terrible Beast wounds to Heal.
How is this done ? By forming an IMAGE TO THE BEAST.  You can only form an image to something by forming a replica of its defining characteristics. The Papacy has always been govern as a church and state power . The Papal Sea is church Craft, the Vatican is its territory and state. The Pope hold reigns of both Priest and King.This was once the case with him being such over the whole world and when this was done the blood of Bible believing Christians flow. Heretics (those who do not acknowledge the doctrines and dictates of Rome were behead, flail,burn at the stake,put in prison and suffer all manure of torture too gruesome to pen.  The Joining of church and State by any country will form the image to the beast.And that second beast in Revelation 13 will be the one to cause the deadly wound of the Great and terrible to heal.

Who is this second BEAST POWER IN REVELATION 17 THAT CAUSES THE DEADLY WOUND OF THE PAPAL RULE TO BE HEALED.

Rev 13:11   another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Rev 13:12  And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Bible says :Rev_13:14  And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Rev_13:15  And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

With the lamb like Beast being America,the Pope being American that should make the Dan 11:41 the latter part seamless. The Sunday law a religious law pushed by protestant America under the loving care of an American Pope can certainly move quickly the final events of Earth's history and an image to be the beast is easily formed which will empower once again Papal Rule and Kingly dominion.

Certainly America is speaking like a dragon at this time via its laws and this is what we expect, for a nation speaks via its laws and its ability to CAUSE..as Rev 13:12. All the infrastructure is in place.The laws,Detention centres,taking away of the liberties of the people,even the chief justices are all Catholic except one.
The question is are you ready, have you been cleansed from sin, have you given all to Jesus.The only ONE that can save you or keep you saved is Christ in the heart. No other weapon can prevent the works of Satan to have its way .We know from history when the Papacy sitteth on the throne of the earth persecution starts on Bible believing Christians who will then be named as in the past histories as Heretics.

He will enter into the Glorious Land as Daniel 11:41 says.The "how "is probably what we will see in the next 3 weeks. If the Pope is an American and one American , if he is selected the Papacy can bring down Protestantism easy from that point on. the Seat of Protestant America will easily pay homage to an pope of American origin . Protestant who are not protesting anymore is already stretching its hand across the gulf to clasp hands with the Papacy , A Vatican II influenced protestants will easily give over to the "New Catholic Evangelistic thrust. "All the World will wonder after the Beast ".  We wait and see

Even if the Pope is not an American Bible prophecy remains accurate while details human reasoning remain sketchy.

Calculations prove July 27th 1449+ 391yrs and 15 days lands us in August 11th, 1840. This prophecy of the fall of the Ottomans empire was fulfilled to the exact day. 
 
It is with this most watched and talked about time prophecy that lead even heathens to believe the 2300 days doctrine to be true in 1840-44. Thus if there were times during the past 2 woes for Gods people to be receiving truth and living by such truths, then in the 3rd woe which we see started in 911 a sealing must be going on with Gods people presently.

1. On Mt Carmel Elijah gave a Sealing message.If If Baal Be God serve him if God be God serve Him.
2. In Christ time John the Baptist the 2nd Elijah was given a sealing message: bring forth fruit evidence of repentance,the Messiah cometh.
3. The message of the 3rd Elijah (Malachi 4:5) is no different. Prepare to meat thy God and it comes upon the Church first 1Timothy3:15 ,Ezekiel9:6

Now note carefully Islam  is angering the nations again at this time as it distressed  the nations  from 1449-1840. And this is what is taking place now as the mighty and the great army is stirring. 

The prophecy of  the Sons of Ishmael the children of the East ,Islam is fulfilling now as we speak .
Gen 16:12  And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. 

It is by this angering of the nations the world will come together ,religions will have all things in common, then we will  see the Protestant America stretching its hand across the gulf to take hold of the hand of the Papal power whose deadly wound would be healed then we have the Sunday Law crisis. And the persecution of the those who follow the commandments of God rather than the commandments of men.

Now before I launch this article I told my self I need to talk to trained practising Doctor to get the validity of the article below and the news am seeing where Antibiotics and Bacteria are concern.
She said that the news of  snail past to stationary discovery of antibiotic to deal with the infections common from cold to those rare are not matching the rate of bacteria  developing resistance to infection.
In other words the world is running out of Antibiotics to deal with the infections and health related problem that are developing.
I was told that they have been advise on limiting to use of antibiotics and prescriptions are given in cases where its absolutely necessary.

When digested this news and what the ramifications of it being a reality is concern what does all this mean in the future and in the times of trouble mention in Daniel 12:1, Mathew 24:21.

Almost since the beginning of the antibiotic era bacterial resistance has been seen as the major obstacle to successful treatment. Hardly any group of antibiotics has been introduced into clinical practice to which some bacterium has not developed resistance. Quantifying the impact of this resistance has often proved difficult, and misconceptions have often resulted from incomplete surveillance. Now that our surveillance methods are much better, we know that levels of antibiotic resistance are rising inexorably—as illustrated by this week's paper on trends in England and Wales. Yet it has taken a long time to realise the extent of the problem, and there is still much that we need to learn about the mechanisms.

At the start of a new century, some 30 years later, things look very different. We are facing a potential treatment crisis for some infections, with an escalating rise in resistance that we have difficulty in controlling.² What has changed? At the end of the 1960s we did not realise that we would face the next three decades with much the same antibiotic groups as we had then. Antibiotic discovery and development had been exponential since the 1940s, but no new clinically useful structures were discovered after 1961, and almost all the drugs that have been launched since the 1960s are modifications of antibiotics that we already have. This meant that bacteria that had “learnt” how to resist one member of a chemical drug class did not have to learn much more to overcome its later modifications. If bacteria were challenged with a new antibiotic class, there would be little chance of cross resistance. Resistance had clearly been controlled up to the 1970s by the many different chemical antibiotic classes available.

The late 1960s were also important for the introduction of organ transplantation. As these procedures became more successful, more aggressive antibacterial therapy was required to protect immunosuppressed patients against infections. This situation was exacerbated with the treatment of neutropenic patients. This massive increase in antibiotic use in hospitals did promote the acquisition of resistance in some well recognised hospital pathogens, such as methicillin resistance in staphylococci and vancomycin resistance in enterococci.

In reality, these labels are convenient markers. Methicillin resistant S aureus is resistant to aminoglycosides, often to fluoroquinolones, and indeed to all antibiotics except the glycopeptides, and there are reports that some strains are becoming resistant to these. In fact, these multiresistant variants of S aureus often occur as epidemic strains. What we are apparently witnessing is the clonal spread of a few resistant bacteria, and they are not simply the original hospital staphylococci that have become resistant.They often contain plasmids harbouring resistance genes, but these plasmids are carriers of resistance that often have “dumped” their resistance genes into the bacterial chromosome by transposition. Similarly, the so called vancomycin resistant enterococci are also multiresistant strains and they are often resistant to all antibiotics targeted against them. The bacteria often spread clonally, although some individual resistance genes may be imported on mobile genetic elements.

We are also facing some resistant bacterial species that were never traditionally regarded as pathogens, such as Acinetobacter baumannii. This organism was sensitive to all antibiotics in the 1970s, but now some strains can sometimes resist all antibiotics. In the case of this bacterium, the propensity to carry resistance genes seems as important as the ability to produce defined pathogenicity factors. In patients previously treated with antibiotics in hospital, A baumannii is a much more prevalent cause of pneumonia than in patients receiving no antibiotics.

Where do these multiresistant bacteria come from? We do not know if they are subpopulations with a predisposition towards resistance. We do know, however, that they often spread clonally and that this may have been facilitated by hospital designs that move patients closer together and rely on regular transfers of patients between different points of treatment. Cross infection is clearly a major contributor to the rise in resistance, and modern molecular typing techniques show widespread dissemination of single bacterial strains. As our knowledge of molecular biology increases and the bacterial genome projects advance, we may well find that certain multidrug resistant strains are quite distinct genetically from their sensitive counterparts. We will then be able to show whether our multiresistant bacteria evolve from strains commonly found in hospitals or whether the antibiotic blanket selects certain strains, which survive merely because of the propensity to carry resistance genes.

The bacteria of all bacteria SIN can only affect you if you are not under the care ,guidance and salvivic plan of Christ. Satan has full reign in the life when Christ is absent.It is this sinful state we aught to be most worried about.
Only those protected under the shelter of God can live in the troublous times to come. have you given your life to Him yet. You still have time.

People are preparing for a Time of trouble that they sense is coming but do no know that the Bible clearly indicates the type of trouble and the preparations necessary for this time. No firearm can save anyone in this time .Only a close connection with God and being sealed as spoken of in Rev chapter 7 and Rev 14.

"We are living in the time of the end. The fast-fulfilling signs of the times declare that the coming of Christ is near at hand. The days in which we live are solemn and important. The Spirit of God is gradually but surely being withdrawn from the earth. Plagues and judgments are already falling upon the despisers of the grace of God. The calamities by land and sea, the unsettled state of society, the alarms of war, are portentous. They forecast approaching events of the greatest magnitude. – {9T 11.1} The agencies of evil are combining their forces and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones. – {9T 11.2} The condition of things in the world shows that troublous times are right upon us. The daily papers are full of indications of a terrible conflict in the near future. Bold robberies are of frequent occurrence. Strikes are common. Thefts and murders are committed on every hand. Men possessed of demons are taking the lives of men, women, and little children. Men have become infatuated with vice, and every species of evil prevails. – {9T 11.3}

A Great Crisis is ahead.Policies are being shape,infrastructure are being put in place, Human beings are being educated to receive collective decisions, The time is at hand.

 It’s beginning to look as if we’ve gone back to the time of the political Reconquista: In Spain, France and Italy political Catholicism is being revived. Clerics are intervening unabashed in politics, politicians are cosying up to the True Faith – and doing it as a matter of course, in a way not seen for a long time in secular Europe.

At the beginning of 2007, for instance, the bishops tangled with the ruling Socialists over their family politics. The Spanish Church showed ill-concealed sympathy with the opposition Partido Popular a few weeks before the parliamentary elections in March 2007. Cardinal Antonio Canizares, vice president of the Spanish Bishops Conference even accused the government of Zapatero in front of 160,000 archconservative demonstrators of “threatening democracy with their radical secularism”. [1]

Clouds of incense

Meanwhile on a visit to pope Benedict XVI and also in his New Year’s address Nicholas Sarkozy was so caught up in religious rapture that some French citizens began to fear that under their quasi-born-again President the secular state could disappear in a cloud of incense. He had said that only believers can have hope. And that every civilisation is based on something religious and that God is a bulwark against – of all things – arrogance and madness.

And finally, in Rome the Church is making it clear that nothing can be done against its will. When it comes down to it, the political agents of the Vatican don’t hesitate for a moment to have the government of the liberal Catholic stalwart Romano Prodi overturned. At one time ex-EU Minister Rocco Buttiglione boasted about having direct access to Carol Wojtyla at all times. Today ex-Justice Minister Clement Mastella bows eagerly before the papal throne.

“Mariazell Manifesto”

It was not until 1952, through the Mariazell Manifesto, that the Catholic Church [gave up its claim to being the national church and] brought to an end the ill-fated political Catholicism (For example, Prelate Ignaz Seipel as Chancellor.) [This was the “Roman Catholic priest, twice chancellor of Austria (1922–24 and 1926–29), whose use of the Fascist paramilitary Heimwehr in his struggle against Austria’s Social Democrats led to a strengthening of Fascism in his country.”] [2]

In the worldwide Catholic Church there is nothing else that explicit. It’s true that the Viennese theologian Paul Zulehner refers to the Second Vatican Council, according to which the Church is to be “political, but not politicised in the sense of party politics”. However, others interpret this as mainly an attempt on the part of John XXIII to limit the damage from the close relationship to the Nazis cultivated by his predecessor Pius XII.

Why is this new offensive, this “Second Coming” of papal politics, coming just now? One factor is the debate about Islam in the last few years. Those who want to argue against terrorists inspired by Islam — like President Nicholas Sarkozy in his most recent speeches — fall back, without thinking, on “Christian values". That, of course, encourages the churchmen. […]

Whenever politics becomes a matter of religion — as it is with the Islamicists — the field of action is dramatically narrowed. This is because religious demands are non-negotiable.

This may not worry people with a terrorist’s view of politics. It should, however, concern the Catholic Church which is still committed to the rationalist tradition of Europe. Luckily, in addition to this there are still enlightened citizens — and not only in Spain, France and Italy — who after centuries under the power of the Church no longer wish to rely on the blessings of its wisdom.

"On one occasion, when in New York City, I was in the night season called upon to behold buildings rising story after story toward heaven. These buildings were warranted to be fireproof, and they were erected to glorify their owners and builders. Higher and still higher these buildings rose, and in them the most costly material was used. Those to whom these buildings belonged were not asking themselves: "How can we best glorify God?" The Lord was not in their thoughts.  {9T 12.1}

The scene that next passed before me was an alarm of fire. Men looked at the lofty and supposedly fire-proof buildings and said: "They are perfectly safe." But these buildings were consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the destruction. The firemen were unable to operate the engines.  {9T 13.1} 
     I am instructed that when the Lord's time comes, should no change have taken place in the hearts of proud, ambitious human beings, men will find that the hand that had been strong to save will be strong to destroy. No earthly power can stay the hand of God. No material can be used in the erection of buildings that will preserve them from destruction when God's appointed time comes to send retribution on men for their disregard of His law and for their selfish ambition.  {9Testimonies page13.2} 

 But who reads the warnings given by the fast-fulfilling signs of the times? What impression is made upon worldlings? What change is seen in their attitude? No more than was seen in the attitude of the inhabitants of the Noachian world. Absorbed in worldly business and pleasure, the antediluvians "knew not until the Flood came, and took them all away." Matthew 24:39. They had heaven-sent warnings, but they refused to listen. And today the world, utterly regardless of the warning voice of God, is hurrying on to eternal ruin.  
     The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The prophecy of the eleventh chapter of Daniel has nearly reached its complete fulfillment. Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place.

THE END WILL BE RAPID

The Prophet of the Lord said in the 1800s concerning scenes we are now witnessing 

 "Light has been given me that as we near the close of this earth's history we shall have the scenes of the San Francisco calamity repeated in other places; and I do want to gather strength, that I may be able to stand before the people and bear a clear, decided testimony. The period of time in which we are living is a very solemn one."  {21MR 86.6}

PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE SHOWN.

     San Francisco in ruins is the most complete, thorough, awful calamity I have ever looked upon. In the night season I have had many presentations of the judgments of God coming upon our cities; and now I can understand better the real meaning of these scenes that I have witnessed.    

In Micah we read: (Quote Micah 1:2,3,4,5,6,7;

 Micah 2:1,2,3,4,5, 7, 12, 13; Micah 3.) 

     Oh, how soon the scenes of destruction and desolation will come and be universal, we cannot tell. "Be ye also ready," saith the Lord, "for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh."

     In Habakkuk we read:

     (Quote Habakkuk 2:1, 2 "it will not tarry" [beyond the time appointed]).

     (Quote Habakkuk 2:3-20.)  

     In Zephaniah we read:      (Quote the entire book.)      In connection with these scriptures, read the first four chapters of the prophecy of Zechariah, and the entire book of Malachi.       These scenes will soon be witnessed, just as they are clearly described. I present these wonderful statements from the Scriptures for the consideration of everyone. The prophecies recorded in the Old Testament are the word of the Lord for the last day, and will be fulfilled as surely as we have seen the desolation of San Francisco.

Regarding the change from the observance of the Jewish Sabbath to the Christian Sunday, I wish to draw your attention to the facts:
(1) That Protestants, who accept the Bible as the only rule of faith and religion, should by all means go back to the observance of the Sabbath. The fact that they do not, but on the contrary observe the Sunday, stultifies them in the eyes of every thinking man.
(2) We Catholics do not accept the Bible as the only rule of faith. Besides the Bible we have the living Church, the authority of the Church, as a rule to guide us. We say this Church, instituted by Christ, to teach and guide men through life, has the right to change the Ceremonial laws of the Old Testament and hence, we accept her change of the Sabbath to the Sunday. We frankly say, "Yes, the Church made this change, made this law, as she made many other laws, for instance, the Friday Abstinence, the unmarried priesthood, the laws concerning mixed marriages, the regulation of Catholic marriages, and a thousand other laws."
(3) We also say that of all Protestants, the Seventh-day Adventist are the only group that reason correctly and are consistent with their teachings. It is always somewhat laughable to see the Protestant Churches, in pulpit and legislature, demand the observance of Sunday, of which there is nothing in the Bible.

Mr. James L. Day first heard the teachings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church at an evangelistic meeting in Thomaston, Georgia in 1934. Upon hearing the sermon on the change of the Sabbath he was greatly perplexed and thought the way to find out for himself the truth of the matter was to write to the Pope.
This letter was written by Mr. Day personally, upon his own initiative, to Pope Pius XI, who was then the ruling Pope of the Catholic Church. He said he waited thirty days for a reply and then received this letter from the editor of THE CATHOLIC EXTENSION, which is printed under Mr. Day's letter. The Pope had sent Mr. Day's letter to Mr. Tramer, who was editor of the Question Box of this magazine, for reply. The answer was sent under the blessing of the pope.

I observe with particular pleasure the view you have taken of the immunity of Religion from civil jurisdiction, in every case where it does not trespass on private rights or the public peace. This has always been a favorite principle with me; and it was not with my approbation, that the deviation from it took place in Congs., when they appointed Chaplains, to be paid from the Natl. Treasury. It would have been a much better proof to their Constituents of their pious feeling if the members had contributed for the purpose, a pittance from their own pockets. As the precedent is not likely to be rescinded, the best that can now be done, may be to apply to the Constn. the maxim of the law, de minimis non curat. There has been another deviation from the strict principle in the Executive Proclamations of fasts & festivals, so far, at least, as they have spoken the language of injunction, or have lost sight of the equality of all religious sects in the eye of the Constitution. Whilst I was honored with the Executive Trust I found it necessary on more than one occasion to follow the example of predecessors. But I was always careful to make the Proclamations absolutely indiscriminate, and merely recommendatory; or rather mere designations of a day, on which all who thought proper might unite in consecrating it to religious purposes, according to their own faith & forms. In this sense, I presume you reserve to the Govt. a right to appoint particular days for religious worship throughout the State, without any penal sanction enforcing the worship. I know not what may be the way of thinking on this subject in Louisiana. I should suppose the Catholic portion of the people, at least, as a small & even unpopular sect in the U. S., would rally, as they did in Virga. when religious liberty was a Legislative topic, to its broadest principle. Notwithstanding the general progress made within the two last centuries in favour of this branch of liberty, & the full establishment of it, in some parts of our Country, there remains in others a strong bias towards the old error, that without some sort of alliance or coalition between Govt. & Religion neither can be duly supported. Such indeed is the tendency to such a coalition, and such its corrupting influence on both the parties, that the danger cannot be too carefully guarded agst. And in a Govt. of opinion, like ours, the only effectual guard must be found in the soundness and stability of the general opinion on the subject. Every new & successful example therefore of a perfect separation between ecclesiastical and civil matters, is of importance. And I have no doubt that every new example, will succeed, as every past one has done, in shewing that religion & Govt. will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together. It was the belief of all sects at one time that the establishment of Religion by law, was right & necessary; that the true religion ought to be established in exclusion of every other; And that the only question to be decided was which was the true religion. The example of Holland proved that a toleration of sects, dissenting from the established sect, was safe & even useful. The example of the Colonies, now States, which rejected religious establishments altogether, proved that all Sects might be safely & advantageously put on a footing of equal & entire freedom; and a continuance of their example since the declaration of Independence, has shewn that its success in Colonies was not to be ascribed to their connection with the parent Country. If a further confirmation of the truth could be wanted, it is to be found in the examples furnished by the States, which have abolished their religious establishments. I cannot speak particularly of any of the cases excepting that of Virga. where it is impossible to deny that Religion prevails with more zeal, and a more exemplary priesthood than it ever did when established and patronised by Public authority. We are teaching the world the great truth that Govts. do better without Kings & Nobles than with them. The merit will be doubled by the other lesson that Religion flourishes in greater purity, without than with the aid of Govt.
