As President Barack Obama and Washington officials continue referring to the global economy’s “increasing downward spiral,” this is the perfect time to emphasize that those who are preparing for the Day of God should also be experiencing an “increasing downward spiral” of humility. “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,” wrote James, “and He shall lift you up” (James 4:10). Humility is one of the cornerstone teachings of Jesus Christ. “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (Luke 14:11). “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5). Believe it or not, God’s saints must not only operate ABOVE the fray of earthly politics, but also BENEATH the swirl of sectarian hatred and strife. Are you one of the Lord’s humble saints in these last days? If not, now is the time for a “downward spiral.” To stand in the days ahead, we must sink low at the foot of the cross.
